Whether you need to promote a new product, notify customers of a sale, or send important updates, broadcast SMS messaging can help you reach your customers instantly and efficiently. In this page, we'll explore the benefits of mass SMS messaging for business customers and provide tips on how to get started.
Broadcast SMS is a type of SMS messaging service that allows businesses or individuals to send a single text message to a large group of people simultaneously. It is also commonly known as bulk SMS or mass texting.
Broadcast SMS is often used for marketing purposes, such as promoting a new product or service, announcing a sale or discount, or sending reminders or notifications to customers. It can also be used for internal communications within a company, such as sending updates to employees or alerting them to a company-wide event or announcement.
Unlike individual text messages, broadcast SMS is sent to a group of recipients who have opted-in to receive messages from the sender. It is typically delivered using an SMS gateway provider, which is a service that allows businesses or individuals to send and receive SMS messages via the internet.
Overall, broadcast SMS is an effective way to reach a large audience quickly and efficiently. However, it is important for businesses and individuals to ensure that their messages are relevant and useful to their recipients, in order to avoid being seen as spammy or intrusive.
Broadcast SMS services are a powerful marketing and communication tool that can help businesses increase engagement, reach a wider audience, and save money on marketing costs.
Sending SMS messages to a large group of recipients is much more cost-effective than traditional marketing methods such as print, radio, or TV ads.
SMS messages have a very high open rate, with studies showing that over 90% of SMS messages are read within 3 minutes of being received. This makes SMS an effective way to get your message in front of a large audience quickly.
SMS messages are more likely to be read and responded to than other types of communication, making them a great way to engage with customers or employees.
Most broadcast SMS services offer detailed reporting and analytics, allowing businesses to track the effectiveness of their campaigns and make adjustments as needed.
Overall, mass text messaging can help businesses increase engagement, reach a wider audience, and save money on marketing costs.

Both broadcast messages and messages sent directly from your chats are sent as standard SMS messages, the only difference is that sending a broadcast SMS gives you the ability to send one custom message to multiple numbers in one go.
When your broadcast SMS is sent, we add the message directly to your Chats threads for each of the numbers in the list - you'll notice the broadcast speakerphone icon under the message bubble so you can tell what was sent as a broadcast message, and what was part of a normal conversation.
No way! The person receiving the broadcast SMS will receive the message as a standard SMS message, we only make it clear within Chalkboard using the broadcast icon which messages have been sent as broadcasts for your reference.
There are no extra charges. Broadcast SMS is available as standard to all Chalkboard users. There are fair use terms that apply to the use of all of our services.
Yes, you need permission to send an SMS message to someone with Chalkboard. Our terms of service have more information, but in summary, the recipient must consent to receive messages from you.
*To send messages to US phone numbers from 10-Digit Long-Code (10DLC) phone numbers you need to register with The Campaign Registry (TCR). The associated fees are collected by Chalkboard and paid in full to TCR. You can learn more about A2P 10DLC registration.
