Using a Chalkboard number with WhatsApp Business

WhatsApp Business can't be set up using a personal phone number (as long as that personal number is already associated with a regular WhatsApp account). You may also not want to give your personal number to business contacts.

Many Chalkboard customers find it useful to be contactable and present on WhatsApp through their Chalkboard number.

It's not always possible to sign up for services with virtual numbers. This is because many service providers don't send verification codes to virtual numbers.

However, we know that in some cases, it's still possible to sign up for WhatsApp Business as long as the number is from a quality provider, and as long as you choose the option to receive a phone call instead of a text message to verify the number.

The instructions below explain how to do this. Unfortunately, we can't guarantee it will work as we have no control over WhatsApp's verification policies. We recommend you set up WhatsApp Business during your free trial of Chalkboard so you can be sure it's working for you.

Here's the steps you'll need to follow:

• Make sure you have the Chalkboard app and you're set up with a phone number before you continue.
• Start by downloading the WhatsApp Business app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS) (it's free to use).
• Open WhatsApp Business, select your country from the list, and submit your Chalkboard phone number.
• Important: You'll need to choose the option to receive your 6-digit code via phone call (you may not receive the code via text).
• When the call comes through (it may take a few minutes), note the code down.
• Finally, enter the verification code. You're now registered with WhatsApp Business with your Chalkboard number.

The standard/free version of WhatsApp Business allows you to connect up to four web-based devices and one phone to your account.

So if you have a Chalkboard number that's shared with a team, one person can have access to the number through their WhatsApp Business app, and 4 other people in the team can have access through WhatsApp Web.

WhatsApp do have a new product called WhatsApp Business Premium which gives your business a WhatsApp web page, and multi-agent support for up to 10 devices and chat assignment. You can find more information about this on the WhatsApp website. This product may not be available in your region yet.
