What are templates?

Templates, also known as canned or saved replies, are a great way to remove the need to copy and paste responses or the time spent typing similar replies, over and over.

No need to copy and paste your replies, you're able to use the templates feature to keep a stock of ready-made responses for all occasions, edit them on the go, anywhere, or create new custom replies when the need arises.

Using templates helps to reduce time spent on repetitive responses and improves your work flow by ensuring consistency, every time.

How do I create a template?

If you're creating a template for the first time, you can either:

  • Tap on your user avatar (top left), select Manage workspace, then tap on Phone numbers, select your number and then select Templates
  • Select Create new template
  • Add a template name (you'll want to give it a friendly name for its purpose i.e. "Customer delayed order" or "Invoice payment follow-up")
  • Add a message, this is what will be inserted into the message composer when you select the template

Or:

  • Head to Chats
  • Press the Message icon to select a contact or select an existing message thread
  • Tap the + icon
  • Select Insert a template
  • Click Create a template now
  • Add a template name (you'll want to give it a friendly name for its purpose i.e. "Customer delayed order" or "Invoice payment follow-up")
  • Add a message, this is what will be inserted into the message composer when you select the template
Can I edit or delete a saved template?

Sure! Once you've created a template its easy to keep things up to date, simply:

  • Head to settings using the cog at the top right and select Templates
  • Select the Edit button next to the template you're looking to edit
  • From here, you'll be able to update the template name and message
  • Once complete, tap Save and you're good to go!

You can even delete any old templates by tapping Delete to keep on top of your Chalkboard admin!

Are there any limits on how many templates I can have?

No way! Go template crazy and get as many saved replies set up as you need!

Why can't I access this feature?

Templates are a Pro feature, you'll need to upgrade to access it.

Click on the Pro badge to change your plan, or speak to your account Owner to upgrade.

Can other users in the workspace access saved templates?

Yes, any templates created by the workspace owner or admins can be used by all users within the workspace.
