Switching from app store billing to a credit or debit card subscription

So you've got an Apple or Android store subscription, but here you are, wondering what this whole "switching" thing is all about - we've got you covered!

Whilst we will continue to offer billing via both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, some of our users find it easier and more beneficial to manage their billing directly with us.

What are the benefits of switching?

Switching to a credit or debit card subscription directly with Chalkboard means you can manage your own subscription billing, your way.

Once switched, you'll have the ability to:

  • Update or completely change card details as required, things change and we're here to support that
  • Manage your subscription in-app, cancel any time, hassle-free
  • See a full invoice history, download invoices any time for your records
What do I need to do before I switch?

You'll need to cancel your active subscription via the relevant app store before you can switch to credit or debit card billing.

If you're an iOS user, you'll need to:

  1. Opening Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap on your iCloud profile picture
  3. Click on Subscriptions
  4. Tap on the active Chalkboard subscription
  5. Tap Cancel subscription

If you're an Android user, you'll need to:

  1. Launch the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap on your Google profile icon
  3. Select Payments and Subscriptions
  4. Select Subscriptions
  5. Tap on Chalkboard subscription
  6. Select Cancel
How do I switch to credit card subscription?

Once you've cancelled your app store sub following the steps above, click here to switch - it's as easy as that and we will confirm the switch via email shortly after.

Does this change the frequency of my subscription billing?

No, billing remains monthly in arrears, so you always pay for the month ahead just like your current app store subscription.

Can I switch billing method mid month?

Of course!

You can switch from app store to direct billing at any point of the month, we simply charge you for the full month and then credit back the remaining time left on your app store subscription on your next renewal invoice - we make this clear to you during the switching process.

Can I switch back down the line?

We don't offer a switch-back service, so you'll need to be sure you're happy to be billed directly before you make the decision to migrate to direct billing.
